Echo Dot 3rd Real User Experience & Review

I offered the Echo Dot Third Generation nearly 2 years ago. Since then I had been using it often for listening to music and also for controlling my smart home appliances and it has been operating quite properly.

BUILD QUALITY

The Echo Dot is built very solidly with the usage of top premium material all around. The top element is fabricated from a gentle contact plastic with 4 buttons for extent up, extent down, mute and volume option. The buttons themselves feel solid too and appear comprised of the same material as the top.

The circular sides are made of a nice feeling fabric-ish material that covers almost the whole circumference except a small hole on the again which includes the power port and 3.5mm jack for audio out.

The bottom is made of a grippy rubber which has loads of friction. It is meant to grip directly to any surface that it is saved on and it really works.

I in most cases hold it in my toilet and it grips quite well onto the marble slab it is saved on. It has a decent grip even when it's far kept on wood surfaces. 

TECHNOLOGY

The Echo Dot is powered via Amazon’s own Alexa. The voice assistant is first-rate with an AI that is clever sufficient for basic utilization.

The Amazon Alexa mobile app (or website) is required to set it up and you can configure some settings over there together with putting in various ‘capabilities’ which might be essential functions or apps for the Echo, and EQing the speaker the usage of a fundamental three-band equalizer. 

SOUND

Initially, when I set the Dot up, I wasn’t waiting for it to have a great speaker. I thought it'd be just decent sufficient for voice instructions with Alexa and such.
